Have you ever been traveling by car, plane, or boat when suddenly your head started to spin? Were these sensations then followed by nausea and even ___1___? If so, you were ___2___ experiencing motion sickness.

Almost everyone has been affected by motion sickness at some time in their life. The malady occurs when the brain receives conflicting information from the senses, ___3___ any time when you are in a plane and can’t see outside the cabin. The balance center of the inner ear, along with nerves in the joints, tells the brain you’re moving. The eyes, ___4___ on things in the cabin, give an opposite report: you’re stationary.

Fortunately, preventing motion sickness is usually quite easy. Medication, available from any doctor or pharmacy, can effectively control the illness if ___5___ before traveling. In addition, simple home ___6___, such as ginger tea, have also been shown to be quite effective.

There are also a few ___7___ you should make to your travel behavior if you suffer from motion sickness. Eat a light meal before you head out, as hunger pangs can trigger the illness. Furthermore, always sit facing forward in a vehicle so your eyes can see the motion your body is feeling. Finally,___8___ reading while traveling.

Unfortunately, effective as these tips can be, they don’t work for everybody. So, if you’re prone to motion sickness, you should also ___9___ a plastic bag handy when traveling. Just ___10__!
