As the Chinese New Year is approaching, it’s time to get ready for the year ahead. A great way to start off is by taking care of some year-end cleaning. Here is a simple and effective method of getting your room tidy and clean.

The essential first step is to ask yourself whether you really need to hang onto those old toys, books, etc. The only way to clear the clutter is to break emotional attachment to physical objects. If it’s trash, throw it away. If you haven’t used it for years, give it to charity. This process helps you be more thoughtful about buying new things or accepting gifts.
必要的第一步就是问自己是否真的需要继续保留旧玩具、旧书籍等等。清理杂乱的唯一方式就是打破对于实体物品的情感依恋。如果它是垃圾，就丢了吧；如果你几年来都没使用过，就捐给慈善机构。这个步骤帮助你在购买新物品或是接受礼物时更能深思熟虑。
Once you’ve cleared the area, it’s time to eliminate dust. Since dirt doesn’t stick well to dry rags, use wet cloths instead.
