Microsoft has launched Windows 8, the latest version of its operation system (OS). Windows 8 works on computers, tablets, and smartphones. It was designed to compete with Apple and Android products in the era of touch-screen devices.

The most obvious change in Windows 8 from older versions is its user interface. The drop-down menus are gone, and the Start menu familiar to Windows users is replaced by a set of live tiles that can be accessed by a touch screen or a mouse. Many of these tiles constantly flicker with new information from the Internet, like news headlines or Facebook photos.
