Felix Finkbeiner is perhaps one of the most famous 15-year-olds in the world. Ever since the boy was 9 years old, he’s helped to spearhead the organization named Plant-For-The-Planet. His group has put more than 12 billion trees in the ground.

It all started in 2007 when Felix, a boy from a small German town, had to give a class presentation in school. He proposed a way to tackle global warming: plant lots of trees. About two months after his initial speech, Felix planted the first sapling of his million-tree campaign－a crab apple. Soon, word of his endeavor reached other places, and many people volunteered to help.

From then on, Felix’s responsibilities snowballed. In April 2008, Felix, still only 10, called a press conference to announce that 50,000 trees had been planted. In June 2008, he was elected to the junior board of the United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP).

Today, Felix is spreading his message around the world. Plant-For-The-Planet is now running in over 130 countries. Although Felix’s parents don’t want their son’s grades to suffer due to his activism, it’s clear that he’s found his calling already.
