Lucy meets Elisa in the hallway at school. Elisa is smiling. 露西在学校走廊遇到艾莉莎。艾莉莎正在微笑。

 

Lucy: Hi, Elisa. What are you so happy about? 嗨,艾莉莎。妳为什么这么高兴?

 

Elisa: My parents promised they would get me a pet if I aced my exam, and I got an “A”. 我父母答应我,如果我的考试成绩很好就给我一只宠物。而我的成绩拿到A。

 

Lucy: That’s terrific. I suggest getting a cat. Both Persian and Siamese cats are so cuddly. 太棒了。我建议妳养猫。波斯猫和暹罗猫都很讨人喜欢。 

 

Elisa: I’m more of a dog person. But I still can’t decide what breed to get. 我比较喜欢狗。但我还无法决定要选哪一种品种。

 

Lucy: How about a Labrador? It’s one of the most intelligent dogs. 拉布拉多如何?牠是最聪明的犬种之一。

 

Elisa: I was considering a German Shepherd. They make great guard dogs. 我在考虑要一只德国牧羊犬。牠们是很好的护卫犬。

 

Lucy: Hmm…your apartment isn’t very big, so maybe you should get a smaller dog. 嗯…妳家公寓没有很宽敞,所以也许妳该买一只比较小的狗。

 

Elisa: That’s a good point. Perhaps I will get a Pomeranian. 那是个好主意。也许我会养博美狗。

 

Lucy: That’s a perfect choice. They’re tiny, smart, and cute. 那是个完美的选择。博美狗很小、很聪明而且又可爱。

 

Elisa: Class is about to start in a few minutes. Maybe we can drop by a pet shop on the way home and choose the cutest Pomeranian. 再几分钟就要上课了。也许我们可以在回家的路上顺便去宠物店挑一只最可爱的博美狗。

 

Lucy: Sure thing. See you then! 没问题。到时候见!

Elisa: Sure, I saved them on my phone. 当然,我把照片存在我的手机里。

Jimmy: Did you adopt one?  妳的狗是认养的吗?

Jimmy: You really should. Dogs in animal shelters need a good home.  妳真的应该用认养的。动物收容所的小狗们都需要一个新家。
