Teller: Welcome to Star Bank. How may I help you?

Brian: I think I lost my credit card, so I need to cancel it.

Teller: Yes, that’s a good idea. We can check to see if someone found your card. First we need to verify your account. May I have your full name and date of birth?

Brian: Of course. I’m Brian Smith and my birthday is March 24th, 1987.

Teller: Thank you, Mr. Smith. No one has returned your card. Can you remember the last time you used your card?

Brian: I think that I used it to buy groceries last night. It was about eight o’clock. I must have dropped it while I was walking home.

Teller: OK. I’ve canceled your card. For your information, no purchases were made after you went shopping last night, so all your money is safe. Would you like us to issue you a new card?

Brian: Yes. Could you tell me how long it will take to get it replaced?

Teller: It should be ready in about 30 minutes. You can have a seat in the lobby and I will let you know when the new card is ready.

Brian: Great. Thank you for all your help today.

The Pros and Cons of Credit Card

The credit card is the ultimate icon of the modern shopper. It’s slim and more convenient than carrying lots of cash and counting coins. With credit cards, consumers can shop almost anywhere around the world. In addition, most purchases over the Internet require credit cards.

The allure of credit cards has led many people to serious money trouble. All of the purchases made with credit cards create debt. If the debt is not repaid within a certain period, interest builds up. Furthermore, as credit cards are so easy to get and use, many enthusiastic shoppers overspend and owe more debts than they can pay back.

In conclusion, credit cards are a great convenience that must be used with caution. Remember to keep track of bills and pay the balance in full each month. Always bear in mind that the card is a loan from the bank, not free money. This way, one can really enjoy the benefit brought by credit cards.
