For caffeine lovers, the day has not truly begun until they have had their first cup of coffee. Every morning, you will notice them ___1___ at a coffee shop near you. But as you watch them take out their wallets and ___2___ their hard-earned cash, you may want to consider something: by indulging in a daily latte, they could actually be flushing a million dollar estate down the drain.

The “Latte Factor” is a concept that was created by personal finance consultant and author David Bach. Bach is out to prove that you don’t need to earn an ___3___ wage to build wealth. He suggests that anyone can become rich by putting aside money that they would typically spend on small ___4___ like coffee, candy bars, bottled water, and magazines. ___5___ it may seem like an inconsequential amount of money, compound interest can transform these tiny indulgences into small fortunes.

As an example, Bach shows what can happen when a person deposits five dollars every day into their bank account ___6___ spending it on a latte. At a 10 % return, the average stock market return, that would amount to over one million dollars over a period of 50 years. ___7___ taking a closer look at where our money is going, we can invest more – and drink all of the lattes we could ever dream of when we retire!
