These images are difficult tonight.

Tonight, investigators pouring over this chilling new video showing the chaos and panic.

After authorities say a man firebomba peaceful Jewish demonstration in Boulder, Colorado, bringing attention to the hostages still in Gaza in what they call a brazen anti-Semitic terror attack.

The suspect 45 year old Mohamed Sabry Soliman appearing in court late today, now facing 16 charges of attempted murder as well as federal hate crime charges.

Just stay away.

You're right.

Tonight authorities raising the number of victims.

Now 12 people injured, some critically burned.

They range in age from 52 to 88 years old, including officials say a Holocaust survivor.

Soliman apprehended in the scene.

It's panic right away, trying to get off the fire, trying to help your friends get out of the fire, trying to put down the fire.

I mean, people are literally on fire.

They're literally on fire.

I don't know if I can express it enough.

And tonight, authorities say the suspect confessed, saying he had been planning this for a year, waiting until after his daughter graduated high school to conduct the attack.

There were 16 unused Molotov cocktails within arm’sreach of the subjectat the time of his arrest.

Authorities saying the suspect allegedly learned how to make them on YouTube, also finding a backpack weed sprayer filled with gasoline.

sprayer [ˋspreɚ] n. 喷雾器; 喷油器

Officials say he specifically targeted the Zionist group that had gathered in Boulder after learning about the group from an online search.

Zionist [ˋzaɪənɪst] adj. 拥护(或支持)犹太复国主义的

And when he was interviewed about the attack, he said he wanted them all to die.

He had no regrets and he would go back and do it again.

The FBI saying he drove to Boulder from this home in Colorado Springs where he lived with his wife and five children, working as an Uber driver, stopping for gasoline on the way.

Authorities searching that home overnight.

If we uncover evidence that others knew of this attack or supported the subject in this attack, rest assured that we will aggressively move to hold them accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

Officials tonight say the suspect was born in Egypt and lived in Kuwait for 17 years before moving to Colorado three years ago.

But DHS says he was in the country illegally.

I was able to identify that he had overstayed his visa.

overstay [ˋovɚˋste] v. 逗留得超过……规定的时间

Daring, highly-coordinated Ukrainian drone strikes shock Russia

We turn out to this stunning drone strike deep inside Russia.

Tonight, Martha Raddatz here with new reporting on how Ukraine pulled this off.

pull off 成功完成

Dozens of Russian warplanes set on fire by Ukrainian drones sent right into Russia and what look like shipping containers, the drones then lifting up out of those containers and flying straight for their targets.

Tonight, Martha Raddatz 's interviewing President Zelensky, what comes next?

And where does this leadthe peace talks?

Tonight, Russia reeling from Ukraine's astonishing and unprecedented drone attacks on military airfields all across Russia.

These remarkable videos, showing what Ukraine says, are some of the more than 40 Russian warplanes, including nuclear-capable bombers, set ablaze.

ablaze [əˋblez] adj. 着火,起火

Estimated to be more than 30 percent of Russia's strategic bombers destroyed.

The Ukrainian drone smuggled into Russia in what appears to be shipping containers with retractable roofs atop trucks.

Watch in this video circulating online as one of the explosive-laden drones lifts off from the container and heads toward its target.

Ukraine's Operation Spider-Web kept secret for more than a year.

The U.S. was not given any advance notice of the attack, but it followed devastating Russian attacks on Ukraine.

I asked Ukraine's president about the attacks today.

Do those attacks, those drone attacks on Russian aircraft, change the dynamic of the war.

Martha, the Russians are trying to conduct offensive operations on a number of directions, and unless they will stop, we will continue the operation.

And as for now, any end to this war looks a long way off.

Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine inIstanbul today ending quickly, and with no breakthroughs.

That part of the story, not surprising, that the talks ended quickly.

Martha, with us tonight, and spoke with President Zelensky today, this was quite an extensive military operation, Martha.

The drones concealed in these makeshift containers going well beyond the front lines, lifting up out of the containers and as you report they’reflying to their targets multiple bases deep inside Russia.

Exactly, David.

It was truly remarkable planning to carry out those highly coordinated secret attacks so deep into Russia and the attacks did make a significant dent into Russia's military capabilities.

dent [dɛnt] n. 打击,损伤(信心或自豪感)

But so far, the Russians have not budged in ceasefire negotiations.

budge [bʌdʒ] v. 改变意见;让步

David.

Martha Raddatz with the new reporting from Washington, Martha, thank you.

Tourists race to flee Mt. Etna eruption

There is another story breaking tonight, the spectacular and dangerous images coming in Mount Etna roaring back to life.

Tourists seen running in fear.

Americans reportedly among them tonight.

As the volcano erupted nearby, the toxic gas, smoke, and ash, billowing into the air, thousands could be seen running to safety.

billow [ˋbɪlo] v.(巨浪)翻腾;波浪似地起伏

ABC Marcus Moore with the images coming in tonight.

Dramatic new video tonight showing the moment dozens of tourists were forced to flee as Mount Etna erupted on the Italian island of Sicily.

The skies darkening above them, and now reports tonight that some of them are American.

Listen to the roars as the earth opens up.

Sending rivers of fast-moving liquid gas and rock flowing from deep below.

A helicopter tour pilot filming this video capturing the firey spectacle from the air.

I twas spectacular, I was jaw-dropping.

Some of the passenger also started crying for the emotion. It was really sure of Mother Nature.

Mother Nature(孕育万物的)大自然

Tremors from the eruption felt in nearby towns and villages, but no damage or injuries were reported.

"David, this is the fourth eruption since November of 2022 and officials say right now, today's eruption poses no threat to the public or air travel.", David.

Marcus Moore from London Tonight.

Marcus, thank you.

Karen Read defense clashes with own witness in murder trial

In Boston tonight, the dramatic moment at the Karen Reed murder trial in the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend.

Tonight the witness, the Karen Reed's team, called to the stand and what she said did their witness backfire.

stand [stænd] n.【美】法院证人席

You'll hear the moment and what that officer said.

Matt Gutman following the trial again tonight.

Tonight Karen Reed defense rolling out its alternate theory that it wasn't Karen Reed who killed her Boston police officer, boyfriend, John O'Keefe by allegedly reversing her Lexus SUV into him during a blizzard in January, 2022, but others.

revers[rɪˋvɝs] v. 倒退,倒转

And that police covered it up the so-called thin blue wall.

Have you ever heard of something called blue wall of silence?

Is there anybody here protecting?

I have no one to protect.

Today, the defense calling former Canton police officer Kelly Dever to the stand.

She was a combative witness.

combative [kəmˋbætɪv] adj. 斗志旺盛的

I am put on the stand in a murder trial.

I don't know why I'm here.

I have no connection to this case.

And this shocking exchange followed the defense urging her to repeat a claim she made.

Two years ago about seeing that Lexus SUV at the police station, which she later recanted because it was factually in correct she said.

recant [rɪˋkænt] v. 取消;撤回;反悔

factually [ˋfæktʃʊəlɪ] adv. 真实地;确实地

Is that her?

Did you understand my question?

Yes, I did.

You threatened to charge me with perjury during our phone call prior to the first trial if I didn't lie on the stand right now.

perjury [ˋpɝdʒərɪ] n.【律】伪证;伪证罪

I'm telling you I did not see anything factually.

The prosecution alleging Reed’s SUV caused these marks on O'Keefe's arm.

But the defense maintaining that O'Keefe was beaten inside a fellow officers home, bitten by a dog and then dragged outside to die in the snow.

The whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God.

I do.

A forensic pathologist called by Reed’steam testifying that the wounds were consistent with a mauling by an animal.

mauling [ˈmɔlɪŋ] n.  伤害

Those wounds were inflicted as the result of a dog attack.

inflict [ɪnˋflɪkt] v. 使遭受(损伤等)

And David, we're already in the seventh week of this trial.

And we're told the defense is a case and I have over 90 names on their witness list could easily stretch into next week.

David, Matt Gutman following this case, achief national correspondent Matt, thank you.

Nearly 200 Canadian wildfires trigger air quality alerts across the Midwest

Now to the warnings and I for millions of Americans, the Canadian wildfires burning out of control.

Of course, now the smoke over multiple states here in the US.

And where it's now headed next, ABC's Alex Perez with the images and the air quality warning now for billions.

David, those wildfires in Canada prompting a state of emergency there and air alerts here.

Now authorities issuing air quality alerts across several states here in the Upper Midwest.

The smoke now shifting as far south as Georgia and the Carolinas.

shift [ʃɪft] vi. 转移;移动

But some good news here in Minneapolis thunderstorms are on the way.

That wind and rain expected to help clear the smoke out of the area. David.

Let's hope it pushes it right out of the way. Alex, thank you

New storm threatens severe thunderstorms, flash flooding across central U.S.

In addition of course to the smoke, millions tonight bracing for the severe storm so let's get right to chief meteorologist Ginger Zeeand Ginger back to what Alex was talking about this smoke is on the move tonight?

Yeah, this is round 3 forparts of northern Minnesota.

Look at this image we just got in from just near the Canadian border.

It is really the type that you can barely see.

That’shead of the cold front which by the way has kicked off severe storm Lubbock up through the high plains even St. Cloud, Minnesota.

When that cold front move to the East tomorrow, you will see that mixing with the rain and thethunderstorms, but you're also going to see more storms in the afternoon develop behind that front,

that's where you could pull down more smoke with the north or northwesterly flow and infiltrate the skies of Minnesota, western UP of Michigan again. Look ahead of the front, too.

Southern Illinois, Ohio, western PA, West Virginia, you could see smoke there, and then big area for severe weather, David, tomorrow.  Ginger Zee back with us tonight. Ginger, thanks.

We'll be watching GMA first thing in the morning. We move on tonight.

Trump spending bill faces opposition from several Republican senators

And the senator who told constituent we're all going to die after their concerns over Medicaid cuts.

Here's Mary Bruce.

Tonight, senators arriving back at the Capitol ready to debate the president's so-called "big, beautiful" bill.

But already a handful of Republicans enough to tank the bill are voicing serious concerns.

tank [tæŋk] v. 使….遭受重创

"It's just not a conservative thing to do, and I told him I can't support the bill."

Republicans worried the bill is estimated to add $3.8 trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years.

It extends Trump's 2017 tax cuts and promises to cut federal spending by some 1.5 trillion dollars.

But some Republicans are concerned about what's on the chopping block, including cuts to Medicaid.

chopping block 砧板

More than 8 million Americans could lose their health insurance over a decade.

In Iowa, Senator Joni Ernst sparked outrage when she appeared to dismiss a constituents concern that people will die.

"They are not eligible, so they will be coming off.

So, people are not, well, we all are going to die.   … for heaven’s sake"

for heaven's sake【口】(用于加强请求的语气或表示厌烦、惊奇等) 看在上帝的份上, 做做好事吧, 请帮帮忙; 天哪, 哎呀

But Ernst is now doubling down, mocking those concerns with a sarcastic apology, recorded by a cemetery.

doubldown意 思是「加倍努力做某事,用比以前更坚定的方式继续做某事,更有决心去完成一件事」

I made an incorrect assumption that everyone in the auditorium understood that yes, we are all going to perish from this earth.

So I apologize.

And I'm really, really glad that I did not have to bring up the subject of the tooth fairy as well.

And tonight the White House is threatening Republicans who oppose this bill will pay a political price.

David.

Tonight, we all know the saying they grow up so fast and they do.

The moment so many around the world have been waiting for and watching for the baby Eagles getting ready to leave the nest.

We first reported on this family of bald Eagles in Southern California's San Bernardino Mountains back in March capturing the world's attention.

So many watching this nest cam online for three months now from the beginning mom and dad taking turns keeping the eggs warm in snow, the eggs then hatching, the baby eagletsisters named Sunny and Gizmo growing up right before our eyes now as big as their parents.

eaglet [ˋiglɪt] n. 小鹰

Late last week, one of the babies Gizmo out on that branch, flapping her wings, hovering there for just over three seconds, but not leaving the nest.

And then today big sister Sunny on the right, older by about four days, spreading her wings, her wings span more than five feet already and watch the moment, sunny, leaving the nest.

The nonprofit friends of Big Bear Valley documenting the eagles and sharing them online, classrooms watching and cheering them on, including Mrs. Arnaurich's third grade class in Arcadia, California, the children watching live and chanting fly.
